You’re allowed to have needs, too.
In-person in Irving and virtually throughout Texas.
You’re the dependable one. The person others call when they need help, reassurance, advice, or someone to make everything okay.
But constantly considering everyone else can make it difficult to recognize what you need—much less ask for it.
NLW Counseling supports adults who are ready to understand their people-pleasing patterns, set healthier boundaries, and stop abandoning themselves to maintain relationships.

You may appear capable and supportive while privately wondering when someone will notice that you need support, too.
People-pleasing can become a way of staying connected, avoiding rejection, keeping the peace, or feeling secure in relationships.
You may have learned that being helpful, agreeable, quiet, or low-maintenance made relationships feel safer.
Those patterns may have helped you at one point. But now, they may be leaving you disconnected from your own needs, feelings, and voice.
Therapy isn’t about becoming uncaring or refusing to help anyone. It’s about learning how to care for others without continually disappearing from your own life.
The goal isn’t to turn you into someone you’re not. It’s to help you make intentional choices instead of automatically sacrificing yourself to keep everyone else comfortable.
People-pleasing often hides beneath competence.
You may manage the household, support your family, lead at work, remember what everyone needs, and appear completely in control. Meanwhile, you’re exhausted, resentful, anxious, or unsure who you are when you aren’t taking care of someone else.
At NLW Counseling, we understand that changing these patterns can bring up fear, grief, guilt, and uncertainty. Therapy provides space to explore those emotions without judgment while practicing a different way of relating to yourself and others.
NLW Counseling uses an integrative, trauma-informed approach to help clients understand the experiences and relationship patterns beneath people-pleasing and self-abandonment.
Depending on your needs, therapy may incorporate attachment-focused work, Internal Family Systems-informed concepts, DBT skills, Brain-spotting, and other approaches designed to support emotional awareness, boundaries, regulation, and lasting change.
Treatment is personalized rather than based on a one-size-fits-all formula.
Individual therapy sessions with Nicole are $150 for 50 minutes. NLW Counseling is currently accepting a limited number of new private-pay clients.
NLW Counseling is currently accepting a limited number of new private-pay clients. Sessions are available in person at the Irving office and virtually for clients located throughout Texas.
You can care about other people without making yourself responsible for everything they feel.
Therapy can help you understand the patterns that have kept you quiet, overextended, or disconnected from yourself—and begin making choices that include you.
